Established in 1975, Shoreham Village Foundation raised money to support Shoreham Village Senior Citizens Association, a body corporate (hereinafter called the “Association”) established under provisions of Chapter 286 of the Revised Statues of Nova Scotia, 1967, the Societies Act, the 1st day of August, 1974 for more than 25 years.
The Foundation was committed to ensuring that Shoreham maintained a reputation of excellence and that its future in our community is a sustainable and prosperous one.
- The objects of the Society were:
a. To raise money in an orderly, continuing, and coordinated way for the Shoreham Village Senior Citizens Association, a body corporate (hereinafter called the “Association”) established under provisions of Chapter 286 of the Revised Statues of Nova Scotia, 1967, the Societies Act, the 1st day of August, 1974;
b. To hold and invest monies in trustee investments for the charitable purposes of the Association;
c. To give, transfer, lend, and pay such monies to the Association in order to maintain, promote, expand, and develop health services and education in the Association;
d. To acquire by way of grant, gift, purchase, bequest, devise, or otherwise, real and personal property and to use and apply such property to the realization of the objects of the Society;
e. To buy, own, hold, lease, mortgage, sell and convey such real and personal property as may be necessary or desirable in the carrying out of the objects or the Society.
While the Foundation Board is no longer actively raising funds for Shoreham Village, we remain registered and function under provisions of Chapter 286 of the Revised Statues of Nova Scotia, 1967, the Societies Act.
Foundation funds will contribute to creating a homelike environment and supporting families on our new building.
